Supporting an improvement of veterinary medical equipment in Zambia /

In FY2018, the Government of the Republic of Zambia has received a grant of 500 million Japanese yen from the Government of Japan under the Japanese Grant Aid for the Economic and Social Development Programme to finance the provision of state-of-art medical equipment to University of Zambia.

Crown Agents was appointed by the Government of Japan to be a procurement agent on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

On 14 June 2023, a handing over ceremony for procured equipment including CT scanner, X ray machine, ultrasound apparatus, laboratory equipment, anaesthesia machine and mobile clinic was held in the city of Lusaka, Zambia.

The ceremony was attended by Vice president of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs Mutale Nalumango, and Ambassador of Japan to Zambia Mr TAKEUCHI Kazuyuki.

The overall aim of the grant is to contribute to the economic and social stability of Zambia by reducing the risk of health hazards by zoonosis/transboundary diseases and risk of food supply caused by livestock diseases. The procured equipment will support enhancement of clinical research capacity and advancement of veterinary medical practice of the University.
