Supporting Albania’s medical sector to fight infectious diseases /

In FY2020, the Government of the Republic of Albania has received a grant of 100 million Japanese yen from the Government of Japan under the Japanese Grant Aid for the Economic and Social Development Programme to finance the provision of state-of-art medical equipment to the hospitals of the Republic of Albania.

Crown Agents was appointed by the Government of Japan to be a procurement agent on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Albania.

On 6 October 2023, a handing over ceremony for procured equipment including CT scanner was held at the University Trauma Hospital in the city of Tirana, Albania

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mrs Albana Kociu, the Director of the University Trauma Hospital, Mrs Edlira Bode and the Ambassador of Japan to Albania Mr TAKADA Mitsuyuki together with the Head of Economic Cooperation & Culture Section of the Embassy of Japan in Albania, Mr NAKAZAWA Takuya.

CT scanner procured under this grant

The overall aim of the grant is to strengthen the health and medical system of the Republic Albania and prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection. The procured equipment will contribute to the medical sector of Albania and secure health and safety of the people of Albania who require treatment and diagnosis of different diseases.
