Logistics during a pandemic and the economic impact of COVID-19 on Africa: Crown Agents guest speak on Jersey Finance’s podcast /

Crown Agents were thrilled to be invited to guest speak on Jersey Finance’s podcast, Jersey Heard.

In this podcast, Jersey Finance’s Global Head of Business Development, Allan Wood, speaks to Fergus Drake, our Chief Executive Officer, and Bryan Richmond, our Southern and Eastern Africa Regional Director, about Crown Agents’ global Coronavirus response. The episode delves into how we are using our expertise to support leaders across the world protect their citizens, economy and way of life from the effects of the virus.

Fergus touches on the challenges facing our Procurement and Logistics teams during the pandemic in acquiring and shipping desperately needed medical supplies to bolster health systems, including in some of the remotest regions of the world.

With Africa set to potentially become the next epicentre of the pandemic, the conversation also heavily focuses on the continent’s preparation for the virus outbreak and the devastating economic impact that could arise from a rapid increase in infection cases. Bryan discusses how Crown Agents are adapting our programmes in Africa to support Ministries of Health on a national level, but also leveraging existing relationships and experience on the ground to assist districts and communities where our teams are already embedded.

We suggest vital actions that can be taken by governments and development and humanitarian organisations to aid Africa, as it faces this complex struggle to eliminate the virus.

We look forward to continuing our close partnership with Jersey Finance and the private sector which can play a catalytic role in helping us support the most vulnerable countries in the fight against COVID-19.
