Crown Agents wins Management Today and World Procurement Awards /

This May 2023, Crown Agents has been awarded the Best Leadership Award in Pharma and Healthcare Award by Management Today for our COVID-19 and Ukraine Emergency Response.

Management Today promotes inspiring, world-class British leadership with a focus on productivity, innovation, employee talent, sustainability and team collaboration.

At the World Procurement Awards, we won the Supply Chain Initiative Award for our Ukraine response, the most prestigious awards in this field.

The Awards celebrate the most senior procurement organisations who inspire progress and deliver sustainable results. This specific award recognises how an organisation has taken a fresh approach to managing its complex supply chain for positive impact.  Crown Agents competed against very prominent global brands such as Ernst and Young, with judges coming from companies such as Accenture, Rolls Royce, Heineken and Warner Bros.

Our COVID-19 Track Record

Crown Agents played a pivotal role in the global pandemic response, supplying COVID-19 vaccines and medical equipment around the globe to remote and vulnerable communities. Our ability to respond effectively to the crisis has resulted in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) appointing Crown Agents to source and manage shipments of medical supplies for the British Overseas Territories. Many of these territories are located in the most remote areas in the world, such as Pitcairn and Antarctica. For communities like Pitcairn, whose closest neighbour can only be reached via a 2-week journey by boat, an outbreak of the virus would be devastating. To reach these remote populations, Crown Agents was one of the first organisations to establish a COVID-19 vaccine supply chain. It subsequently advised multi-lateral organisations like COVAX, GAVI and UNICEF on effective ways to transport vaccines over long distances.

In total, Crown Agents procured and transported 35 million doses of lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines to 45 countries and territories, which included rural communities in South Sudan, amongst others, where Crown Agents has been delivering the Health Pooled Fund (HPF) programme on behalf of the FCDO, the Government of Canada, the EU, SIDA (Sweden), USAID and Gavi.

Our Humanitarian Response to the War in Ukraine

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, our charitable arm, Crown Agents International Development (CAID) has raised more than £25 million to support the humanitarian response in Ukraine.

To achieve this, we have been supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the UK Ministry of Defence, Jersey Overseas Aid, Pfizer, Barnabas Aid, GSK, UBS, Christian Aid, Save The Children, Russell Reynolds Associates, Direct Relief  and numerous other Foundations and organisations.

Crown Agents is currently managing funds for multiple donors to strengthen the work of over 120 Civil Society Organisations in Ukraine. This includes rehabilitating over 50 health care facilities back to working levels, the reconstruction of children’s hospitals, as well as deploying modular building technology to assist with the need for temporary structures.

Our next goal is to rehabilitate 300 health facilities in the coming 2 years, with a focus on sustainable, green and energy efficient reconstruction that lessens dependency on the energy grid and contributes to decarbonisation.
