Supply Chain expert David Mureithi joins Crown Agents’ Board of Directors /

Crown Agents, the British not-for-profit international development organisation, is delighted to announce the appointment of supply chain expert David Mureithi as the newest member of its Board. Mr Mureithi spent 27 years with Unilever Plc, working in a variety of senior supply chain roles before moving into general management where he served as regional Managing Director for East and Southern Africa and later for West Africa.

In a career spanning over three decades, Mr Mureithi has worked in or directly managed businesses in over twenty African countries. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President at Vivo Energy Plc.

Baroness Neville-Rolfe DBE CMG, Chair of the Crown Agents Board said: “We are thrilled to have someone of David’s calibre joining Crown Agents. His impressive record of running major business portfolios such as Unilever across Africa and his deep knowledge of working across the continent will be invaluable”.

David Mureithi said: “I am excited to join Crown Agents at this time, which is a turning point for us all as we tackle the pandemic and step into a more sustainable future. Joining an organisation which has worked on the African continent for decades, I am especially thrilled to contribute my supply chain expertise and experience in developing economies to take Crown Agents to the next level of impact. I look forward to working with the organisation to champion resilient supply chains for the African continent and beyond so we can build back better from the pandemic.

About David Mureithi   

David has extensive experience of managing businesses and supply chains across Africa, most recently as Executive Vice President at Vivo Energy Plc.

David spent 27 years with Unilever Plc, working in various supply chain roles before moving to general management where he served as regional Managing Director for East and Southern Africa and later for West Africa. In a career spanning over three decades, he has worked in or directly managed businesses in over twenty African countries.

David has a deep personal interest in education and conservation and in development issues in Africa. He currently serves as the chair of the board of Starehe Boys Centre and School a charitable institution that provide high quality education to underprivileged boys in Kenya. He is also a significant investor in private education institutions in Kenya. David has served as a board member of the board of trustees of the Marine Stewardship Council a global non-profit organisation promoting sustainable fishing in the world’s oceans.

An electrical engineering graduate from the University of Nairobi, David also holds an MBA in marketing from Leicester University UK.

Outside of work, David is an avid golfer, a passionate supporter of Arsenal FC and a keen sportsman who has run several marathons in Kenya and in London.
