Programme to make schools more disaster-resilient in Nepal is launched /

A DFID-funded programme to ensure more disaster-resilient school buildings in earth-quake vulnerable parts of Nepal has been launched in Kathmandu.

The Nepal Safer Schools Project (NSSP) will work with schools in western Nepal to make up to 250 schools in four districts in the Mid and Far West of Nepal safer by retrofitting and reconstructing structurally unsound school buildings. The project will also provide teachers and students with learning on disaster risk reduction, and work with the Government of Nepal to build capacity around disaster risk reduction. The project is aligned wit the government’s School Sector Development Plan, which runs up to 2023.

Our partners in NSSP are DFID, Save The Children, Arup and NSET.
