The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is helping countries in South Asia with the final push towards elimination of visceral leishmaniasis (VL).  

Crown Agents and Oriole Global Health are working with national and sub-national level governments to support active case detection as the Ministries of Health identify the last few cases of VL. 

Also working to raise awareness of Post Kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis and to consider the impact of climate change on the behaviour of the VL vector at higher altitudes, having discovered cases in previously non-endemic areas.
