Montserrat

  • Developed an evacuation plan in 1997 when the Soufriere Hills volcano erupted and coordinated the transport of burns victims off the island for treatment
  • Instated water transport to re-connect supply lines to neighbouring islands following the explosion
  • As part of the CSSF Overseas Territories COVID-19 Response, we procured over 100,000 PPE items and 9000 laboratory consumables for hospitals in Montserrat.

Having been active across the Caribbean for almost two centuries, we have responded to major natural disasters and health emergencies and introduced systems and processes to boost economic growth, retaining our understanding of local customs and procedures. During major hurricanes including Irma, Jose, and Maria in 2017, Crown Agents’ operational team mobilised over 800 tons of aid via air and sea freight, with cargo including 3,000 shelter kits, medical supplies and 5,000 solar lanterns.

Within LATAC, we have supplied procurement services across 28 countries, and for Clients such as the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) we provided end-to-end supply chain operations for PPE during COVID-19.

At present, we support a World Bank/Canada funded Caribbean Resilience Facility Programme to create a self-sustaining pooled procurement mechanism extending beyond pharmaceuticals and to the wider CARICOM region.
