By spending public funds effectively, the countrys dependence on external financing is reduced, and it can direct funds to other public spending needs. In over 10 years of partnership with the Ministry, Crown Agents Value for Money Audit Service has identified over $1 billion of savings of public moneyequivalent to more than the total aid Ghana received in 2017 from the World Bank, IMF, African Development Bank, Global Fund, US, UK and Germany combined. In August this year, the Government announced the investment of US$100 million to build or upgrade 111 hospitals across the countrythe so called Agenda 111. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, this flagship programme for the President represents a crucial commitment to improving health for all in Ghana. Through our Value for Money work, we have been playing a critical role in supporting Agenda 111, undertaking cost analyses of hospital infrastructure contracts. The savings weve identified in our recent work on hospital construction adds up to over USD 91.9 millionequivalent to the total construction costsof 5 additional hospitals. Crown Agents support enables Ghana to free up resources to pay health workers, buy medication and reinvest in solar systems as a source of energy for hospitals. This in turn accelerates the countrys transition to a more sustainable use of power in the health sector.10'
