A reliable, secure and cost-effective supply of drugs and other healthcare products is essential to every health service.
Crown Agents ' health supply chain expertise and experience help our clients to build and sustain professional health supply systems and break out of the cycle of poverty. We provide integrated and secure supply chain solutions, delivering tailored, flexible responses that ensure essential medical resources are delivered wherever they are needed, quickly and cost-effectively.
Procurement
Crown Agents is one of the world's leading independent procurement organisations. The health sector currently accounts for over two thirds of our procurement business, and engages the skills of some 150 of our worldwide staff. We have assisted a number of national governments and public sector organisations in procurement of health commodities, either as a Procurement Agent or a consultant.
Many clients use our supply chain services in combination with a programme of human resource development that we create for them. Our extensive experience of training design and delivery means we can work with clients to develop a training programme that best fits their particular needs. Our approach is sensitive and constructive, helping existing management and staff to grow into their full potential.
Health Logistics and Supply Chain Management
Crown Agents has unrivalled experience of reforming central medical stores in developing countries, including:
- institutional modernisation;
- procurement planning, implementation and capacity building;
- warehouse management and inventory control;
- distribution planning and implementation; and
- capacity building in all aspects of logistics management.
For example, Crown Agents has been working with the Zambian government since 2004 to improve its health supply system by turning the government-owned central medical stores Medical Stores Limited (MSL) into an effective, flexible, efficient and demand-led organisation. Our work has led to dramatic improvements in MSL's performance metrics, including enhanced pharmaceutical standards and improved service levels.
