A new approach to learning

12 April 2010

VC training roomIn March 2010, Crown Agents, in conjunction with Kenya Development Learning Centre (KDLC) and the Development Learning Centre in Tanzania (DLC) held a Combating Corruption in Procurement training programme via video conference. The video conference was held at the KDLC Centre in Nairobi, at the DLC centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and at Crown Agents' headquarters in the UK; bringing together our expert trainers in the UK with over 20 delegates from private and public sector organisations from both Kenya and Tanzania.

The programme was delivered with a mix of seminar style learning as well as practical, interactive exercises and very lively discussions to ensure that each delegate got the most from their learning experience and were able to apply their new skills and knowledge to their organisation. Topics covered throughout the week included identification of corruption in procurement processes, risk management, mitigation strategies, ethics and integrity.

Delegates Booker Odenyo, Crown Agents' Country Manager in Kenya, officially opened the training programme stating, "Development capacity building, innovative learning solutions, public sector institutional strengthening, governance, and integrity, are some of the themes Crown Agents share with KDLC and DLC. Supply chain management is one area in which Crown Agents is a well known leader as a practitioner, consultant and trainer over the years. Our pioneering co-operation today with KDLC and DLC in the delivery of this course is therefore the beginning of a natural partnership between two like-minded organisations eager to be recognised globally as centres of excellence in capacity building. We, at Crown Agents, believe that there is potential for greater partnerships and synergies going forward as we explore more ways in which we can create significant impact in achieving our shared goals."

This was the first time Crown Agents has partnered with KDLC on an initiative such as this. Following the success of this initiative and positive feedback from each of the delegates we look forward to many more events in the future.
