Crown Agents has received a "highly commended" award in the Major Consultancy Project of the year 2009/10 category at the annual British Expertise International Awards in London. The accolade recognises the work we have undertaken in Angola to enhance Customs Revenue through expansion and modernisation.
This project was commissioned by Angola while the country was still immersed in civil war. It was intended to attract investment, stimulate economic growth and create a more efficient and transparent trading environment.
The results have been astonishing - a largely untrained and poorly equipped workforce has been transformed into what the World Customs Organisation describe as " a very functional administration with well defined procedures and a high degree of motivation and commitment from officers."
Custom's revenue continues to rise despite the global economic downturn. Efficiency gains have been extraordinary. An African success story supported by British expertise.
