Introduction of clean energy by solar electricity generation system in Uruguay

THE PROJECT FOR INTRODUCTION OF CLEAN ENERGY BY SOLAR ELECTRICITY GENERATION SYSTEM IN THE ORIENTAL REPUBLIC OF URUGUAY

Government of Japan | 2009 - 2012

Under the "Cool Earth Partnership" to tackle global warming the government of Japan launched the project for the Introduction of Clean Energy by Solar Electricity Generation System to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, in December 2009. Japan pledged JPY730,000,000 to Uruguay in the form of this grant.

Introduction of clean energy by solar electricity generation system in Uruguay This project seeks to provide Uruguay with a Japanese sourced photovoltaic (solar) system at a site owned by the National Administration of Power Station and Electrical Transmissions. The project will reduce the country's carbon emissions and serve as an example of what such solar projects can achieve, especially as it is expected to be one of the largest solar projects in Uruguay.

As the procurement agent for the government of Uruguay we will manage the procurement of necessary technical services and the supply and installation of the photovoltaic system. We have also finalised a contract with a technical consultant to oversee the installation process and will procure a contractor to supply and install the photovoltaic system.

We look forward to the successful implementation of this project and contributing to the development of clean energy solutions in Uruguay.
