Under the current DFID-funded HCP project in Nigeria, our complete supply chain management service includes a documented quality assurance process. Many of the essential medicines required are purchased from local supply sources in an effort to assist in building capacity in Nigeria's pharmaceutical industry, and our quality assurance processes are tailored to reflect this. In addition to a thorough evaluation of suppliers at tender stage, and further reviews of documentation by our full-time pharmacist based in Nigeria, essential medicines purchased are subjected to pre-shipment inspection and sampling by our local inspector. Samples taken are sent to an appropriately qualified independent testing laboratory to ensure that the products comply in full with the specification. To date we have worked with Vimta Laboratories Limited in India and CENQAM North West University in South Africa, both of which have been prequalified by WHO as quality control laboratories.
