Crown Agents hosted a workshop on International Trade Procedures and Trade Facilitation in Maputo, Mozambique last month, supported and funded by the Crown Agents Foundation alongside the EU Delegation in Mozambique.
The workshop, which ran from the 12th-13th September, was organised by Crown Agents Mozambique representative David Jamisse, and was well attended by twenty delegates from the Mozambique Confederation of Businesses and three delegates from Mozambique Customs.
Areas of focus included international trade pressures to promote export competitiveness and control the cost of imports, customs processes such as duties and tax, the Single Window concept, supply chain security and finally Authorised Economic Operator regimes.
Crown Agents' senior customs and trade facilitation advisor, Jon Walden and customs consultant, Kevin Whyber delivered the workshop which provided the delegates with an up to date understanding of the latest protocols and practices. They were also given an insight into the current global trading environment and the challenges and solutions ahead.
Overall, feedback from the delegates was very positive and many commented that the course "really brought value". Several await Crown Agents' return in providing further courses in the near future which is something Crown Agents hopes to do.
