Crown Agents delivers capacity building procurement and financial management workshops in Haїti

As part of its responsibilities as Fiduciary Agent under the Projet de Relèvement d'Urgence des Infrastructures et des Institutions, Crown Agents has extended its responsibilities to deliver invaluable procurement and financial management training to the two key ministries of Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

Those pictured include Laurence Brito and procurement specialist Moustapha M’Baye.Our teams are delivering key training workshops alongside our other project activities to enhance knowledge and build capacity in our counterparts in best practice in the application of the World Bank guidelines.

A variety of modules are being delivered covering the Project Operational Manual and the Manual for Accounting and Financial Procedures, the preparation of proposal documents and contracts; risk management; contract management; performance monitoring and evaluation; disbursement procedures; Special Account management and replenishment; as well as the administration of loans and grants and disbursement procedures.

These modules supplement the team's close work with their counterparts to provide mentoring and capacity building on-the-job.

Delegates on the procurement training at the Port-au-Prince office in Haiti.Feedback has been extremely positive with delegates describing the sessions as "important, informative and interesting" as well as "aids effective and efficient achievement of objectives " and "able to understand key aspects of their work".

Last month, Crown Agents' submission 'Action Plan for National Recovery and Development in Haїti' was shortlisted at the British Expertise 2011 International Awards under the Development Project of the Year category.
