Crown Agents promoted our customs and trade facilitation services and IT solution suite trips™at the 10th World Customs Organisation Annual IT conference in Seattle 11-13 May. The conference attended by visitors from Customs and the private sector from across the world featured the theme of Cloud Computing: a new era for customs and trade. Customs officials and chief information officers from over 50 countries were welcomed by our team of experts at the Crown Agents stand located within the exhibitors' hall alongside partners Microsoft.
Nick Small, trips™ business director, was on the panel of speakers on the first day of the conference. His presentation focused on how developing nations can benefit from Cloud Computing. He highlighted how Crown Agents' unique perspective gained through working in partnership with governments of emerging economies to develop innovative IT solutions to facilitate growth and trade provides particular insight into the benefits and risks they face with implementing cloud based services.
Small said, "The path to the cloud often varies greatly between developed and emerging economies because of their starting points. Moving directly to the cloud can enable emerging economy governments to leapfrog archaic, legacy technologies and infrastructure investments made by developed economy governments".
Small went on to detail what countries could be doing now to harness the benefits and reduce the risks and prepare for Cloud Computing.
