On 1st December 2011, Crown Agents began work on an important project in the Dominican Republic with the Directorate General of Customs (DGA) to help pave the way for a Single Window for
external trade. The Single Window will enhance the efficient exchange of information between trade and government and extends the benefits of the significant investment already made by the government in the state-of-the-art Integrated Customs Management System (SIGA).
As noted during the Contract Signing Ceremony by Crown Agents' representative and Senior Project Manager, Ms. Andrea Hampton, by incorporating a thorough and holistic review of elements relating to the processes, policy, and people behind the Single IT platform, the project will maximise the expected benefits of greater efficiencies and measurable differences to trade and investment in the country.
Director General Rafael Camilo also highlighted the important role that the project will play in giving the Dominican Republic the competitive edge it needs to meet its strategic objectives and maintain its strong standing amongst other Caribbean and Latin American countries.
Crown Agents is one of the world's few leading providers of Single Window solutions and has long history of working in the Caribbean supporting governments to strengthen customs institutional capacity and facilitate trade.
