Aid coordination and management

Aid is unpredictable and involves multiple stakeholders, making it more difficult for recipient countries to coordinate, plan, absorb and use aid effectively. We work with countries to resolve some of these issues, particularly by strengthening the institutional units that are responsible for managing external financial inflows.

The countries that we work in value our understanding of aid modalities and the donor community, and expect our practical solutions to help coordinate and budget for aid inflows. Drawing on the principles of sound public financial management, we advise on the organisational and legal structures for managing aid and in developing and prioritising investment programmes. Our advice not only helps countries to plan and manage aid inflows more effectively, but it also reassures donor agencies that their funding will be used well.

In recognition of our expertise in this area, Crown Agents has been an implementing partner of the global UNDP Long Term Agreement for Aid Effectiveness Advisory Services since 2009. Under this arrangement, we provide assistance and advice on the existing mechanisms for aid coordination, on both government and donor sides, and will provide a plan of action on how to proceed in line with the Paris Declaration and Accra Action Plan.
