Africa to benefit from majority of DFID funding

DFID's planned bilateral aid spend for 2011/2012 will see selected African countries including an African Regional Programme benefiting from £1.89 billion. This spend will continue to 2014/2015, by which time DFID will have delivered up to £2.428 billion to African country programmes.

Women and babies waiting for vaccinationsIn line with the DFID review, Crown Agents is carrying out an analysis of its African operations to find ways to strengthen its country offices and nurture its relationships with donors and governments in order to achieve the best results.

Crown Agents' director of DFID relations, John Demeza, said: "It is vital that we continue to find ways to improve and validate our business and this analysis will help to ensure we consistently meet the needs of our clients and achieve value for money."

Crown Agents has worked extensively in Africa since the 1960s and currently employs more than 50 employees in 12 country offices across the continent. From Sierra Leone to Kenya, we will continue to work in partnership with DFID to help African governments maximise their economic growth and exceed their development goals.
