Improved accessibility to dependable HIV/AIDS care and prevention products in Tanzania

Tanzania Marketing and Communications: AIDS, Reproductive Health & Child Survival

USAID – Subcontractor to Academy for Educational Development | 2004 - 2006

Tanzania Marketing and Communication engages the commercial and private sectors to support achieving USAID/Tanzania's overall health and HIV/AIDS strategic objectives. The primary objectives were to develop and manage a cost-effective marketing, sales and distribution network, improve access to HIV/AIDS care and prevention products; and to develop and manage a broad-based communications initiative to enhance knowledge of core HIV/AIDS areas.

The team established roles for ongoing project management and implementation, adopting a stakeholder approach to ensure sustainability. In partnership with local organizations, Crown Agents worked to address the challenges of coverage and consistency in distributing dependable products through providing expertise in supply chain strengthening. Crown Agents' services were central to ensuring a robust and sustainable supply chain for HIV/AIDS relief through negotiating commodity transition, ensuring commodity security and packaging in the pipeline and auditing existing stock. Support was extended to review data on existing product supply including sourcing, cost, clearing, warehouse packaging as well as formal and informal distribution and sales.
