Government of Tanzania | USAID | 2006 - 2007

Under this prime contract, Crown Agents USA delivered various performance-based programmatic activities in a twelve-month training program to the Prevention of Corruption Bureau (PCB) of the Government of Tanzania (GoT).

On January 27, 2006, Tanzania's Millennium Challenge Corporation Threshold Program was approved. The GoT's primary objective in the Threshold Program is to reduce corruption in half of the country's local districts and in central government agencies. To meet the objectives of the Threshold Program, the GoT requested USAID assistance to implement its twelve-month training program. This training program was designed to enhance the technical capabilities of the PCB in order for the GoT to be able to combat corruption in the public procurement sector more effectively.

PCB DelegatesIn March of 2007, Crown Agents held its first training course for officers from the Tanzanian Prevention of Corruption Bureau Delegates learned about the procurement cycle, focusing on weaknesses and indicators of corruption. They also learned about anti-corruption strategies such as prevention, enforcement and awareness raising techniques.

During the Millennium Challenge Account-funded course, delegates also prepared action plans for tackling corruption in the health, education and emergency procurement sectors, as well as in their respective functions of investigation, inspection and community education. Their final action plans were presented to the USAID Mission Director, Pamela White.

Crown Agents ran a second training course for PCB staff in August 2007.
