Supporting reconstruction in Aceh

Procurement advisory services to BRR for the Infrastructure Reconstruction Enabling Program (IREP)

Department for International Development | 2006

As part of its overall post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction strategy for Aceh and Nias, BRR (the Government agency responsible for reconstruction) is managing a multi-donor fund. With significant additional funding provided through the Infrastructure Reconstruction Enabling Program (IREP), BRR's biggest challenge is managing the procurement process for five major contracts, valued at US$42m. These include major infrastructure construction and consultancy services.

Crown Agents was able to mobilise a team of procurement advisers at short notice to boost BRR's capacity. Our team is supporting BRR with advice on the procurement process and through on-the-job training and mentoring. Given the significance of each contract, tailored coaching sessions have been designed to support each Procurement Committee.

The assignment will give BRR enhanced capacity to handle its procurement workload, thereby strengthening reconstruction initiatives in Aceh.
