Support to Joint Management Unit Moscow Project

This project supported the promotion of an effective nuclear safety culture in the Russian Federation in line with principles of the International Atomic Energy Agency Convention on Nuclear Safety. The main focus was to improve the operational safety of nuclear power plants and support the implementation of related nuclear waste management activities in Russia.

Crown Agents was responsible for managing the Joint Management Unit (JMU), based in Moscow, providing assistance to the European Commission (EC) and Rosatom in the project cycle management of the EC nuclear safety programme in Russia. We provided information to all stakeholders on the progress of current projects, results and lessons learned from completed projects, as well as preparation for the implementation of the new EC Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC) in Russia.
