Procurement and supply chain management to support Global Fund grants in Kenya

Procurement and Supply Chain Management Consortium in Kenya

Ministry of Health, Kenya | 2003 - Ongoing

Procurement and supply chain management in Kenya Crown Agents is a partner in the Kenya Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) Consortium, which provides procurement and supply chain management services under Global Fund grants to the Kenyan Government. The other consortium partners are the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GTZ) and John Snow, Inc. (JSI). In 2006, The PSCM Consortium was awarded a second two-year contract funded by the Kenyan Global Fund Principal Recipient, the Ministry of Finance.

It provides procurement and supply chain management services under Global Fund grants to the Kenyan Government. Total approved funding so far is roughly $240 million.

Our goal is to create a secure and sustainable supply chain that ensures maximum access to essential commodities of assured quality at the minimum cost in the shortest possible time. The consortium buys and delivers all items under the Global Fund grants, including large quantities of pharmaceuticals, HIV test kits, malaria bed nets and re-treatment chemicals, medical consumables and equipment, and supporting equipment such as vehicles, computer equipment and training materials.

In addition to procurement and logistics services, the Consortium members work together to build capacity and develop sustainable supply chain management within KEMSA to enable it to manage future purchases on behalf of the Kenyan Government.
