Government of Bangladesh & The Government of Denmark | The Government of Bangladesh and The Government of Denmark | 2009
Crown Agents Bangladesh has been engaged to assist in the Hygiene Sanitation and Water Supply (HYSAWA) project because of our skills and capabilities in successfully delivering the required results.
HYSAWA was established and registered in June 2007 as an autonomous financial institution under the Companies Act 1994, and receives initial funding support from the Government of Bangladesh and the Government of Denmark. HYSAWA has been financing eligible local government institutions (Union Parishads and Pourashavas) directly to implement Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) schemes. It is guided by a Governing Board chaired by the Secretary of Local Government Division and set up to facilitate transparent and accountable administration of the Fund.
HYSAWA is a long-term financing mechanism that can attract funding from various donor agencies and the Government of Bangladesh, and as such could be a basis for a common programmatic approach in the rural hygiene, sanitation and water sector.
In the first phase, Crown Agents Bangladesh began helping short list manufacturers/suppliers of hand pumps and PVC pipes by placing adverts in newspapers to invite candidates to express their interest. Crown Agents Bangladesh submitted a short list after studying all the submitted company documentation and verified them with visits to the premises of potential candidates.
In the second phase, Crown Agents carried out a similar process to shortlist contractors for the installation of hand pumps and other technologies. Potential contractor submissions are currently being studied and verified to prepare a list of successful contractors.
Crown Agents Bangladesh will be providing further assistance as the project progresses.
