Crown Agents has been active in the Philippines for almost twenty years, implementing projects on behalf of the Asian Development Bank and the Japanese government.
We were appointed as procurement agent by the Department of Finance to help implement eight tranches of Japanese non-project grant aid, the first being signed in 1990. Our role has been to work in partnership with the finance department, the Japanese embassy and individual end-users to make certain that funds are disbursed quickly, effectively and transparently.
Focusing on poverty alleviation, revenue generation, institutional development and organisational effectiveness, we have also lent our professional expertise to computerising the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC), as well as assisting the privatisation of the Department of Public Works and Highways. Capacity building always plays an integral part in the development projects that we implement.
Since 2008, Crown Agents has been supporting the implementation of the Electronic Tax Information System (eTIS) within BIR in the Philippines with the aim to provide efficient information, processing and address the management of the varied needs of participating stakeholders, while supporting seamless integration with other systems within BIR.
Currently, Crown Agents is working with BoC on the development and operationalisation of the National Single Window to improve trade facilitation in Philippines using TRIPS™ Single Window as the facility.
For our work with the Asian Development Bank, Crown Agents is represented in Manila by Lita Nunez of RAN Consult.
