Crown Agents opened a permanent representative office in Islamabad in 1984 to support its procurement for the UK Overseas Development Administration (now DFID). The scope of our services expanded so much that in 2002 we consolidated our commitment to Pakistan by registering branch office.
Strengthening public financial management is central to Pakistan's long-term development strategy, so in recent years we have been working alongside line ministries to help them achieve their goals. Through technical assistance and in country and international training we have supported bodies such as the Central Board of Revenue, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministries of Health and Population Welfare and others in pursuing revenue reform, debt management, procurement reform and other reform and capacity building objectives.
At the same time we have continued to deliver procurement services for DFID and for the Ministry of Finance under a $150 million Japanese Non-Project Grant Aid Programme.
Since the tragic earthquake in 2005 we have been working with the newly-created Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) to help develop planning, monitoring and evaluation, communication and management information procedures.
