1. What do you do?
A key part of Crown Agents' corporate strategy is to "get closer to our clients" and in pursuance of that objective we have established the Crown Agents Africa Regional hub office in Nairobi, Kenya with the responsibility for overseeing the business-winning and delivery activities of all our country offices spread across the continent. The idea behind this concept is to engender a better understanding of the particular development needs of our clients in Africa and to enable Crown Agents respond with relevant and appropriate solutions.
As Africa Regional Director, my role is to support the work of our ten country managers in Africa in developing country business plans, managing our business opportunity pipelines, as well as the delivery of existing contacted work through the effective and efficient use of our corporate resources. In addition to this, I mentor the country managers on how to build long-term relationships with client governments in Africa, regional development institutions and donor partners, and also ensure strict adherence to Crown Agents corporate governance, commercial and business operating procedures.
2. What have you enjoyed most whilst working with Crown Agents?
Having worked for the Crown Agents for the past 19 years, what I have enjoyed most is the vast knowledge I have gained from the multi-disciplinary nature of our business, the diversity of the projects and programmes I have worked on or contributed to and the ultimate positive development impact these have made on the lives of ordinary people, within the context of Africa's efforts to reduce poverty. Indeed, the privilege of working with donors and governments in Africa to find appropriate solutions to the continent's many development challenges has been most stimulating and rewarding for me.
3. Why do you enjoy working for Crown Agents?
It is our corporate values and the passion, attitude and determination of our people to get each assignment done to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
The "developmental" nature of Crown Agent's business has been a major attraction to me, and everyday I go back home feeling gratified that my humble contribution at work has made a real difference to humanity.
