Since 2007 and the implementation of Crown Agents' TRIPS Integrated Revenue solution, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has experienced significantly increased revenue collection.
Mr Khurshid Sattaur, Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) said in a recent statement '2009 revenue performance has been significantly better with a more than 10% improvement over the previous year. This has resulted in the Revenue Agency surpassing the 2009 revenue collection estimates of $86.4 billion.'
This increase follows previous increases in revenue streams after the successful introduction of VAT contributed to an additional $900 million in collections.
Mr Sattaur commented 'this resounding success can be attributed to the shift the organisation has taken from a tax type to a functional approach of administering taxes and the reliability of the Total Revenue Integrated Processing System (TRIPS) to facilitate the process.'
TRIPS has been aligned to tax and customs business processes which has heightened the efficiency and security of operations. The consultancy support that Crown Agents provided the GRA has also contributed to the hugely improved revenue collection figures. 2009 was dedicated to refining the new organisational structure focusing on infrastructural enhancement and human resource development for further improved competency and effectiveness. With these figures the GRA has set a new record in revenue collection
