Seventeen Russian delegates working on nuclear safety projects recently visited the UK for training as part of the Department for Trade and Industry's North West Russia Initiative. Crown Agents organised the 2-week trip and trained delegates on EC funding of projects including the TACIS programme. Delegates also received environmental impact assessment training.
The delegates, from Atomflot and the Murmansk Shipping Company (MSCo), visited Dounreay and Oldbury to see first-hand how British experts deal with waste and manage nuclear facilities. They all enjoyed this informative visit and one delegate said, "These trainings and visits to nuclear power plants are of great significance as they allow us to exchange views on decommissioning processes. We have a lot in common and learning from each other is of great benefit."
