Better health services for India’s poorest

23 May 2006

Crown Agents India is supporting a DFID-funded programme to improve essential health services for India's poorest rural communities. Our contribution is in helping the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare's fledgling 'Empowered Procurement Wing' to become a professional, effective and transparent organisation, resulting in (among other benefits) a better delivery of essential drugs and medical supplies to the rural poor.

Crown Agents' team leader Peter Mellon said recently, "I strongly believe that we have a major opportunity to strengthen the healthcare system in India as part of a poverty alleviation strategy that is working towards improving health for those most disadvantaged".
