Crown Agents' main goal is to support India's rapid growth through public financial reform, capacity building and supply chain services.
On a DFID-funded programme (2006-2008) to improve essential health services for India's poorest rural communities we helped transform the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare's fledgling 'Empowered Procurement Wing' into a professional and effective organisation.
Elsewhere, through the DFID-funded Poorest Area of Civil Society (PACS) programme we helped organise people in 15,300 villages across 85 districts of India into community-based organisations to better voice their concerns over services affecting them.
From 2005 we helped the Public Health Engineering Department to provide access to safe drinking water for rural communities by improving the quality of hand-pumps.
We also worked with the Federal government in 2002 to introduce a GST/VAT system including a detailed training program for senior officers of the Ministry of Finance and State tax departments.
Crown Agents has worked in India for several decades, first operating a liaison office to support our quality assurance and inspection services. Crown Agents operates its in country business through a fully owned subsidiary Crown Agents India (p) Ltd, incorporated under the Indian Companies Act in 2007.
