The Customs and Trade Facilitation division of Crown Agents successfully launched a series of commercial training seminars in the autumn of 2009. Training courses were conducted in Kenya and Jordan and a total of 53 delegates benefitted from the long term experience of Crown Agents trade experts who were able to impart theoretical knowledge backed by practical examples of best practice in relation to Customs and International Trade Procedures and Protocols.
The feedback, following the launch, was excellent. Delegates appreciated the capability of Crown Agents trainers to address the holistic challenges of 21st Century importing and exporting, including customs, trade cycles and strategy, finance, shipping, insurance, regulatory and contracting issues. The courses identified the challenges, addressed the issues and recommended solutions during the sessions which included participative case studies and discussions.
Following this successful launch a further series of training events are planned for 2010. These will again involve Customs and Trade issues and will include the important new and revised trade protocols which are being published this year. Currently, open courses are planned for East Africa, West Africa and the Middle East and workshops are being presented in Mexico and the USA.
