Crown Agents expands its customs and trade training offering

26 March 2010

Mexico customs training workshopTraining has always been an integral part of the services delivered to Crown Agents' clients undertaking modernisation and reform programmes. In addition to delivering support to analyse training needs, developing training curricula, designing training programmes and training trainers, we have now expanded our offering of stand-alone training interventions aimed at the customs and trade community and, indeed, all stakeholders involved in the trade process.

We have already achieved success in the delivery of in-country training courses in countries as diverse as Kenya, Jordan and Mexico. We are now planning the first customs and trade related courses to be held at our new training centre in London.
Crown Agents' training courses address the holistic challenges of 21st Century importing and exporting, including customs, trade cycles and strategy, finance, shipping, insurance, regulatory and contracting issues. In addition to imparting theoretical knowledge backed by practical examples of best practice in relation to Customs and International Trade Procedures and Protocols, our trainers also help delegates to identify potential challenges, address issues and recommend solutions and best practice during the sessions through participative case studies and discussions.

Mexico customs training workshopOur training courses are aimed at all those involved in international trade operations - customs staff, trade development/facilitation staff, traders, brokers, shipping and forwarding agents and banking and trade finance officials. We deliver training in a wide range of areas such as customs policy and procedures, international trade procedures, use of scanners, understanding the Single Window environment, international trade finance and customs classification and valuations.

Courses are tailored to meet the needs of each client and in addition to our scheduled courses, can be designed and delivered on request. Our courses can also be aimed at the strategic, tactical and operational levels, and are delivered in a classroom environment and/or 'on the ground'. For example, Crown Agents' trainers can support senior staff to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to manage the planning, procurement and installation of a new scanner capability, or can train operational teams in the use of equipment.

Courses can be delivered in a variety of languages or to multilingual groups through the use of simultaneous translations. To discuss your training needs, contact Jon Walden at jon.walden@crownagents.co.uk
