Crown Agents has been active in Albania since 1997, when we implemented a World Bank-funded National Roads Project for the General Roads Directorate.
In 1999 we opened a fully-staffed representative office in Tirana that would provide local project management and administrative support to all our local projects. It also lets us work closely with government institutions, donors and international funding agencies.
During the 1999 regional crisis Crown Agents coordinated and managed the provision of British government humanitarian assistance to Albania and throughout the Balkans region. We provided maintenance services to the UNHCR tanker and truck fleet funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) which transported emergency supplies to Kosovo during the six months immediately following the end of hostilities.
Crown Agents managed and administered Japanese Non-Project Grant Aid to assist the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry between 1999 and 2003.
We are currently providing technical advice and procurement services to help develop the agro-processing industry, with support to the finance ministry's countervalue funds programme.
